The History Of Our Market

The Arlington Heights Farmers Market has become a vibrant centerpiece for the community, not just for its fresh produce and artisan goods, but for its community feeling, making it a Saturday morning destination for many Arlington Heights families.

The Arlington Heights Historical Society took over the market from Claudia Starck, village resident and local real estate broker in 2014. Starak started the market and ran it on her own for 14 years before handing it over to the historical society as she prepared to retire. In addition, she also generously donated all start up funds for the market.  Starting in 1999, The Arlington Heights Farmers Market originally occupied the area near the parking garage at North School Park. After 10 seasons, it was clear it outgrew the space and moved to the commuter parking lot at the corner of Vail and Fremont Street, across from Museum campus.
